The Department of Streets and Sanitation resumed regularly scheduled garbage pick-up today. To assist the laborers, please clear the snow from around your garbage carts so they can be moved to the trucks. If you the carts are frozen in the snow, please try to provide a pathway to the cans. Also, be sure to bag all your garbage. This will enable the laborers to pick the bags out of the carts if the carts cannot be moved.
Snow removal continues. The parking ban on the main arterial streets has been lifted and my Ward Superintendent, Greg Wagner, spent the weekend coordinating the removal of additional snow from the main arterial streets to make room for parked vehicles. He also started clearing the alleys of snow drifts, so that the garbage trucks can complete their routes. The Mayor’s office has made very clear that Greg can clear snow only from those alleys where the snow drifts prevent the trucks from picking up the garbage. In short, he cannot clear snow from every alley, just those that are impassable to the garbage trucks.
If you would like to know the status of snow removal in your alley, please reply to this e-mail or call my Ward Service Office at 773-338-5796.
Finally, my thanks to those who let us know about trouble spots. We were able to clear many of them this past weekend despite the additional snowfall. Please continue to contact us with problems and let us know when they are rectified.
