Below are two popular events returning this weekend:
The weather outside isn’t frightful (yet), but the new Glenwood Sunday Winter Market will be delightful!
Yes, 49th Ward friends and neighbors, it’s true! The Glenwood Sunday Winter Market opens this Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 6956-58 N. Glenwood, right next to The Glenwood Bar. Just in time to stock up for Thanksgiving!
The Glenwood Sunday Winter Market is a foodie market specializing in locally grown (and organically grown when possible) produce and foods. The Market will operate on the second Sunday of each month between now and May, and is thrilled to welcome many of its favorite vendors from the summer season, including:
Bennison’s Bakery (missed those brioches!)
Crafthouse (sausage of the month club anyone?)
Sharpening by Dave (bring your knives and get there early!)
Dennanne Farms (almost out of honey….)
Hardin Family Farm (apples and cider)
Katherine Anne Confections (thoroughly fantastic seasonal truffles and caramels)
Midnight Sun Organics (spinach, eggs, beets, turnips, bok choy, cabbage…..)
Oriana’s Orchard (Asian pears, walnuts, hickory nuts!)
River Valley Mushrooms (mushrooms and so much more)
Ruth and Phil’s Gourmet Ice Cream (sour cherry sorbet is a market fave)
Stamper Cheese (need we say more?)
Sweet Attila’s (have you tried the gluten free varieties?)
Sweet Earth Organics (Renee’s fantastic organic produce in November? WOW!)
Tomato Mountain (remember tomato season? It’s in these jars…)
Zullo’s (can’t go to a market without a little cone of apple cider donuts!)
The Market will continue to accept Master Card and Visa and is extending its Market for All matching fund program for Link/SNAP guests.
I’ll see you at the Market!
My popular “Follow Me on Friday” series continues this Friday, November 12th, 5-7 p.m., with a visit to one of the 49th Ward’s most popular eateries: Gruppo di Amici, 1508 W. Jarvis, in the thriving Jarvis Square district. Gruppo di Amici will be offering free appetizers and a complimentary glass of wine or beer to folks who follow me on Facebook or bring a copy of this e-mail.
“Follow Me on Friday” is one of my efforts to encourage my constituents to sample some of the 49th Ward’s finest restaurants and pubs. Each week on my Facebook page, I post the name and location of a local restaurant or pub where I’ll be hanging out after work on Friday. The establishment offers specials for all my Facebook followers and their friends. It’s a great opportunity for you to check out one of the fine local 49th Ward businesses you may not havebeen to before.
Previous “Follow Me on Friday” locations include Mullen’s Bar and Grill, 7301 N. Western; RoPa Restaurant and Wine Bar, 1146 W. Pratt; Act One Cafe, 1330 W. Morse; Ethiopian Diamond II, 7537 N. Clark; Waterfront Cafe, 6219 N. Sheridan; Good To Go Jamaican Cuisine & Fruit Bar, 1947 W. Howard; the Morseland, 1218 W. Morse; the Caribbean American Bakery, 1539 W. Howard; and Chuckie’s, 1412 W. Morse.
I’ll post a new “Follow Me on Friday” location every Friday . . . so keep following for great specials, good neighborhood fun, and lots of laughs.
