Live from Mayne Stage is broadcast Sundays at 11:00 a.m. on 98.7 WFMT and simultaneously onwfmt.com. The series will showcase a variety of acclaimed classical soloists and top ensembles from the Chicago area, performing for a live studio audience.
I urge you to experience this beautiful music in the Mayne Stage’s intimate 299-seat theater, which, in the opinion of many musicians, provides some of the best acoustics of any musical venue in the nation. WFMT offered live broadcasts from the venue when it was known as the Morse Theater, and I know many will share my excitement that WFMT has returned to the 49th Ward.
Tickets to the live broadcasts are priced at an astonishingly affordable rate of $10. To purchase tickets, CLICK HERE.
Below are the next two upcoming performances:
Rachel Barton Pine
Celebrated violinist Rachel Barton Pine, called by American Record Guide “no less than fabulous,” will be featured in a recital for unaccompanied violin, which will include her own arangements and works written for her.
Pianist Winston Choi, who is Head of Piano at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, offers a program entitled “The Myriad Faces of Water,” depicting composers’ various ways of depicting water, featuring music by Schubert, Liszt, Ravel, Griffes, Ireland, Berio, Takemitsu, Ravel, Yvar Mikhashoff and Brian Current.
What an amazing line-up! Welcome back, WFMT!
