Dear Neighbor,
The 49th Ward Service Office and the 49th Ward Streets and Sanitation office will be closed on Monday, August 17th, as part of an unpaid furlough day for all City of Chicago employees. The Rogers Park Library and all other public libraries will also be closed.
This is one of 15 unpaid city holidays and furlough days that all city employees are required to take this year to address the city’s unprecedented budget crisis. The furlough day requirement does not apply to city police, fire and medical emergency employees, who will work as usual on Monday.
49th Ward residents who receive city garbage pick-up on Monday will have their garbage collected instead on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday next week.
For non-emergency city service requests on Monday, you may still e-mail or call my ward service office (773-338-5796). Leave a message, and we will return your call promptly on Tuesday and address your issue then. Of course, if you have a police, fire, or medical emergency, call 911.
If you have any questions, please reply to this e-mail, or call my office.
Thanks for your understanding during these difficult economic times.
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
