Shakespeare in the Park: Midsummer Night’s Dream
Where: Loyola Park at Farwell Avenue
Chicago Shakespeare in the Park presents a showing of Midsummer Night’s Dream at Loyola Park. Now in its seventh year, the FREE FOR ALL Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks tour heads out to neighborhood parks across the north, west, and south sides of the city with a 75-minute abridged production. At each location, a specially equipped truck rolls into the park, a stage unfolds, and a company of professional actors shares Shakespeare’s magical comedy with families and neighbors of all ages.
Live Music at The Heartland Cafe
Where: 7000 N. Glenwood Ave.
Five bands will entertain, including headliners Hooch.
49th Ward Back to School Picnic
Where: Loyola Park at Farwell
The 49th Ward Back to School Picnic has been a Rogers Park tradition since 1991. Most recently co-sponsored by Ald. Moore and State Senator Heather Steans, the Picnic reminds kids and parents of the importance of returning to school at this community picnic for people of all ages.
Highlights include a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers, food, games, bouncy houses, and senior bingo.
Gale School CommUNITY Carnival
When: Friday, August 24th (1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.)
Where: 1631 W Jonquil Terrace
Gale’s CommUNITY carnival is open to the entire neighborhood. Children will receive haircuts, pony rides, bouncy houses courtesy of Ginn Group and CVS. And take your shot at dunking Principal Augie Emuwa in the dunk tank. There will be music, fun activities and food! Families will also be able to enroll their cheidren at Gale that day.
