Dear Neighbor,
State Rep. Kelly Cassidy is hosting a “Virtual Town Hall Meeting” on new regulations proposed by the State Fire Marshal that will affect thousands of Chicago property owners. The meeting will take place this Wednesday, July 31st, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Loyola University’s Cuneo Hall, Room 109 and can be viewed online.
I will be attending the meeting together with State Rep. Cassidy, State Sen. Heather Steans, State Rep. Greg Harris, Ald. Harry Osterman, Ald. James Cappleman and representatives from the Chicago Fire Department.
Cuneo Hall is located in the middle of Loyola’s campus.

If enacted, the proposed fire regulations would require the installation of fire sprinklers in all “high rise” buildings (defined as any building over 80 feet in height), all newly constructed single family homes and all existing single family homes that have undergone significant rehabilitation. The regulations would also require all apartment buildings more than three stores tall or more than ten units in size to install a fire alarm system with manual pull stations that automatically notify the fire department.
I first alerted you to these proposed new regulations two weeks ago. For more details about these regulations, CLICK HERE.
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
