The spring and summer travel seasons are just around the corner. Many folks will be traveling overseas, either for vacation or to visit family and friends. In preparation for the travel season, I have partnered with our two local post offices to provide an expedited one-stop service for passport renewals and new applications.
These “Passport Fairs” will be held this coming Sunday, March 13th, at the Rogers Park Post Office (1723 W. Devon), and the following Sunday, March 20th, at the Northtown Post Office, (3401 W. Devon). These fairs will run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Postal employees will be on hand to process your applications and answer any of your passport-related questions.
Obtaining a new passport or renewing an existing one can take upwards of six weeks, so we’re holding these special passport fairs to enable you and your family to obtain this important document well ahead of your travels. The Post Office will provide you with all the forms you need to complete your application. In addition, they’ll take and print your passport photo on site. Please bring with you proof of citizenship, current identification and a form of payment.

Our postal workers are an important part of our community and provide an invaluable service–through rain, snow, heat and gloom of night. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting with our local letter carriers, clerks and other staff to thank them for their hard work (see photo above). I even had the opportunity to chat with my own carrier, Peggy (right), and thank her for her excellent service.
The post office is working hard to help you prepare for upcoming travel. I hope you are able to take advantage of these passport fairs on Sunday, March 13th or 20th.
