Dear Neighbor,
Spring is arriving a little late this year, but winter’s accumulation of old leaves and debris still demands our attention and underscores the need to spruce up the neighborhood! Join me for the 23rd Annual 49th Ward SPRING CLEAN-UP, Saturday, April 20th. We’ll meet at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and rolls at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview, and then we’ll fan out across the neighborhood, picking up trash, cutting down weeds and planting flowers. If you have an area you want to work, that’s great! Otherwise, we’ll assign you to an area that needs attention.
We’ll return to my office at 12 Noon for a fabulous “Taste of the 49th Ward” with food donated from a vast array of 49th Ward restaurants, guaranteed to satisfy every culinary taste.
Come by yourself or with a group! We’ll supply shovels, rakes, brooms and garbage bags.
This is a wonderful time for block clubs, condominium associations, church groups, and lots of other organizations to come together with individual members of the community to help get the ward ready for spring. Bring the kids!
Our projects include planting flowers in the public way, cleaning up litter, weeding community flower beds and more. We ask that you register in advance so we can plan for enough food and equipment for the day. You may register by replying to this email and providing the information requested at the bottom of this page. Or call my Ward Service Office at 773-338-5796.
If you happen to be a gardener with plants or cuttings you can contribute, please let us know that as well. Your extra hostas, sedum and succulents can help beautify our street corners.
I hope to see you on Saturday, April 20th, at 9:00 am.
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
