Rogers Park named the top Chicago neighborhood for “living well”

Dear Neighbor,

A national real estate website this week named Rogers Park as the top neighborhood in Chicago  and one of the top neighborhoods in the nation for “living well.”

The website, Trulia, conducted a survey of 877 neighborhoods across the U.S., and named Rogers Park the 11th best neighborhood to live in the nation for staying active and healthy,  ahead of all other Chicago neighborhoods. [Read more…]

Traveling overseas this year? Apply for or renew your U.S. passport at our upcoming Passport Fairs

Dear Neighbor,

passportThe spring and summer travel seasons are just around the corner. Many folks will be traveling overseas, either for vacation or to visit family and friends.  In preparation for the travel season, I have partnered with our two local post offices to provide an expedited one-stop service for passport renewals and new applications.

These “Passport Fairs” will be held this coming Sunday, March 13th, at the Rogers Park Post Office (1723 W. Devon), and the following Sunday, March 20th, at the Northtown Post Office, (3401 W. Devon). These fairs will run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Postal employees will be on hand to process your applications and answer any of your passport-related questions.

Don’t Forget Sunday’s Bike Tour of Rogers Park

Dear Neighbor,

Don’t forget to join your neighbors and me for a tour of Rogers Park on my 7th Annual 49TH WARD COMMUNITY BICYCLE RIDE.  The event kicks off Sunday morning, July 19th, at the 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis). Registrationand breakfast snacks are at 7:30 a.m. and the bike ride kicks off promptly at 8:00 a.m.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that all bike riders be at least 16 years of age.

Alderman Joe Moore’s Speech Announcing his Candidacy for Re-election

Dear Neighbor,

It’s official!  I’m a candidate for re-election as Alderman of the 49th Ward.

I filed nominating petitions Monday morning containing the signatures of 7,180 residents and Monday night I made it official by announcing my candidacy in front of 120 friends, supporters and neighbors at the Heartland Cafe.
