Hi there!

Do you ever wonder what your 49th Ward Service Office does all day? This weekly newsletter, written by your service office staff members*, will give you a taste of the regular and non-traditional things we work on.

The seven staff team members handle over 150 inquiries each day. Some are routine, like requests for pothole repair, snow shoveling complaints, landlord/tenant concerns, and questions about events we’re hosting. Others require a little more creativity, sensitivity, or persistence. This week we helped someone set up an iPass user account. All in a day’s work!

In this issue:
The value of partnerships: CityKey municipal ID events
Acts of kindness: Neighbors assisting victims of Sunday’s apartment fire
Update: USPS delivery problems
Infrastructure: Annual pothole survey
Save the date: Upcoming events
In case you missed it: Alderman Moore’s emails and events this week

Others require a little more creativity, sensitivity, or persistence. True story: Several times in recent years we were asked to help address wind-chime-related issues. We were happy to assist.

49th Ward Staff Update: Ward “Supe-r” services; monthly CAPS meetings with police

January 25, 2019

Dear Neighbor,

With the cold and snow over this past week – and no let-up in sight – you can count on our office staff for help. Last weekend and all week our office staff has connected people with folks who can shovel snow at reasonable prices, while our Ward Superintendent Dan Murphy has been blowing snow, salting and reminding neighbors of their responsibility to keep sidewalks clear in front of their property.  Click here to complete a form requesting shoveling help.

In this weekly email, your Aldermanic Service Staff reviews what’s happening in the 49th Ward office and on the streets. Please reply to this email with your thoughts, and what you might like to see included in the future.

49th Ward Staff Update: Housing advocacy, Target job fair a smash hit

January 18, 2019

Dear Neighbor,

Welcome to the first weekly email where your Aldermanic Service Staff reviews what’s happening in the 49th Ward office and on the streets.

We are listening to you. As we have been hosting satellite service offices and been out and about in the community, we have heard that while you love Alderman Joe’ Moore’s email blasts, you also would like to hear more about what our staff is doing for the community and some of the things that Joe is doing that perhaps don’t warrant a big stand-alone email. And so we are launching this email. [Read more…]
