In an ideal world, how would you like to experience Clark Street?
The Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA), our neighborhood’s official chamber of commerce and business development organization, is teaming up with The Lakota Group, a design and urban planning firm, to come up with a plan to revitalize Clark Street and strengthen its identity and vitality. Known as “Vision Clark Street,” the planning process will involve community residents and businesses every step of the way with the ultimate goal of providing the tools necessary to transform the street.
You are invited to become involved in the very first step of the Vision Clark Street process by attending an “Open House” this Tuesday, May 30th, anytime between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m., at 7004 N. Clark Street (just north of Lunt).
Stop by at any point and stay for as long as you would like. A series of stations and activities will be set up for community residents and business owners to participate in and share local knowledge of the area, as well as concerns and ideas for the future. Staff from RPBA and The Lakota Group will be present to answers questions and receive input.
It goes without saying that Clark Street is an important business district and a true reflection of Rogers Park’s diverse cultures and community.
RPBA and I already have undertaken steps to revitalize Clark Street. Last year, RPBA installed streetlight banners along the entire length of the Rogers Park portion of the street, from Devon to Howard, and installed 11 new planters at key intersections.
And in the recent Participatory Budgeting Election, 49th Ward residents voted to upgrade the streetlights on Clark to give the street a new look.
Vision Clark Street is an important next step in this revitalization effort.
We look forward to hearing your vision for Clark Street. If you can’t make this open house, you will have more opportunities in the future to participate in the process. To stay informed and involved, visit the Vision Clark Street website and “like” the Vision Clark Street Facebook page.
