As you know, Tuesday is Election Day. You will vote on an array of races for federal, state and local offices. Many of the races are extremely close. Your vote can make a difference. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
To find your polling place location, CLICK HERE or call my Ward Service Office at 773-338-5796. Also, please call my office or reply to this e-mail if you need a ride to the polls.
You will also vote on whether certain Supreme Court and appellate and circuit court judges should retain their seats. Nearly seventy judges will be on the “judicial retention ballot,” making it impossible for even the most experienced lawyer, let alone the average voter, to make an intelligent decision on the qualifications of each judge.
I have provided a JUDICIAL RETENTION SAMPLE BALLOT from the Chicago Council of Lawyers. The Council of Lawyers is a non-partisan, progressive and reform-minded bar association. In every election, they engage in a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of each judge up for retention.
I hope you find it to be a helpful guide as you vote on Tuesday.
