As you plan your weekend, I want to draw your attention to two fun events you may want to check out:
Join the Rogers Park Food Co-op as they “RAISE THE ROOF TOP FARM,” an autumn afternoon for the whole family to benefit the food co-op. The event takes place TODAY (Saturday, September 20th), 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Uncommon Ground, 1401 W. Devon (at Glenwood).
Celebrate the fall harvest and hear about the progress towards opening a community-owned grocery store. Learn more about the benefits of food co-op ownership and see how Uncommon Ground’s Rooftop Farm grows one ton of one ton of organic vegetables annually on their rooftop, all of which ends up on their menu!
The event is only $20 per person (kids 12 and under are FREE). All of the proceeds from the event will go towards funding the food co-op’s ownership campaign, including printing brochures and applications. Join your neighbors at a beautiful venue for delicious food, great live music, free face-painting and Taffy apples for the kids and, of course, Rogers Park camaraderie!
If it’s raining, look for them under the tent!
Rogers Park Food Co-op is a group of neighbors, who are organizing to open a community-owned grocery store in Rogers Park that will feature fresh, local and sustainable foods and build up the community and local economy.
I know it’s not quite October yet, but it’s close enough. Enjoy Oktoberfest in Rogers Park this Sunday, September 21st, 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m. at Jarvis Square (Jarvis and Greenview).
Participate in a bag tournament ($40 a team) while enjoying music and some cold libations. Sponsored by R Public House, Taste Food and Wine, Towbar and Poitin Stil, Jarvis Square continues to host awesome special events. Support this terrific group of businesses who bring frolic and fun to the community!
