The Rogers Park Library is re-opening Monday with brand new floors and a bright new look! Library patrons will enjoy new carpeting throughout the building, funded by my participatory budgeting process, and freshly painted walls on the first floor. The ugly electrical cables in the computer room have been discretely repositioned.
Come see the new improvements first hand and join the Friends of the Rogers Park Library and me for a CELEBRATORY RECEPTION this Monday, October 6th, 6:00 p.m. in the second floor community room. The Library is located at 6907 N. Clark (at Farwell). Light refreshments will be served.
The new carpeting is courtesy of the 49th Ward residents who voted in last spring’sParticipatory Budgeting Election. It was the second most popular project on the “PB” ballot, receiving over 1,000 votes.
As is often the case with Participatory Budgeting projects, the investment in new carpeting spurred additional investments. Over the summer, my Ward Office staff worked with Kang Chiu of the Friends of the Library and staff from the Chicago Public Library and the City of Chicago to not only ensure that quality carpeting would be installed, but develop other ancillary projects that will further enhance the library environment.
I look forward to seeing you Monday evening!
