I would like to remind you that the Morse/Lunt “L” station is scheduled to close at 11:59 p.m. TONIGHT (Friday, June 29). The station will remain closed for the next six weeks as the CTA and its contractor perform much-needed capital maintenance work on the stationhouse, platform, viaduct and trackbed as part of the Red North Interim Station Improvement project.
As alternatives during the station closure, the CTA advises commuters to use either the nearby Jarvis or Loyola stations, which are both roughly four blocks away. Commuters can also board a westbound #155 Devon bus from Morse Avenue and travel to the Loyola station.
As an alternate to rail service, several bus service options are available within two-blocks east of the station on Sheridan (#96 Lunt, #147 Outer Drive Express, #151 Sheridan or #155 Devon) or two-blocks west on Clark (#22 Clark).
I will keep you apprised of the status of the project as it moves forward.
The CTA also is closing several streets to parking and traffic this weekend, including portions of Jarvis, Morse, Lunt and Glenwood. For details, visit:
Finally, the Glenwood Sunday Farmers’ Market returns to its home block on the west side of the CTA tracks on Glenwood Ave. between More and Lunt. The Market will be open for business this Sunday, July 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
