I’d like to remind you of two events this weekend.
The Chicago City Clerk’s office will be selling City vehicle stickers at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis), this Saturday, July 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is no additional fee for this convenience.
The prices for the vehicle stickers are as follows:
- Small passenger vehicles (under 4,500 lbs): $75.00
- Larger passenger vehicles (4,500 lbs or more): $120.00
- Senior Citizens (for small and larger vehicles): $30.00
- Truck (16,000 lbs or less): $180.00
- Motorcycle: $45.00
A vehicle sticker in a residential permit parking zone will cost an additional $25.
The Clerk’s Office prefers payment by check or money order, but will accept cash. As an added convenience this year, the City Clerk’s office will also accept credit card payments. However, please keep in mind, that the system is very new and network connectivity problems may prevent the clerk’s office from accessing their electronic cashiering system, so please be prepared to pay by check or cash if their system is not working.
If you’re a senior citizen, make sure you have an ID to receive the senior discount.
Please bring your renewal form or your driver’s license and be prepared to provide your vehicle license plate number.
The 3rd Annual 49TH WARD COMMUNITY BICYCLE RIDE, takes off Sunday, July 10th, 7:30 a.m., at the 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis).
Enjoy a light breakfast snack compliments of Whole Foods. I’ll lead an hour-long bicycle tour of the 49th Ward, highlighting some of the projects underway as a result of the 49th Ward’s Participatory Budgeting process, with a safety escort provided by the City of Chicago’s Bicycling Ambassadors.
We’ll conclude our ride at Bicycle Day at the Glenwood Sunday Market at Morse and Glenwood. Bicycle parking will be available, along with some great bike-related vendors and resources, including:
- Bike safety checks
- Helmet fittings
- Cycling merchandise
- Rider safety tips and more!
The Recyclery, 7628 N. Paulina, Rogers Park’s used bicycle collective, will be accepting donations of used bikes at the Market and Roberts Cycle, 7054 N. Clark, will provide safety checks, helmet fittings and cycling merchandise.
