Join your neighbors for an afternoon of fun and celebration as we cut the ribbon on the new Pottawattomie Park playground and water feature! The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place this Sunday, August 23rd, 1:30 p.m., at Pottawattomie Park, 7340 N. Rogers.
The new water feature was funded through my Participatory Budgeting process in which the residents of the 49th Ward vote on how to spend the ward’s $1 million annual capital improvement budget.
The new playground was selected through a community application process administered by Friends of the Parks, a park advocacy organization, dedicated to preserving, protecting, and improving Chicago’s parks. I announced the initiative in March of 2013 and urged neighbors to submit their favorite playground for consideration. In true Rogers Park fashion, the neighbors were enthusiastic and well-organized. As a result, every 49th Ward playground submitted for consideration was selected, including Pottawattomie Park. The 49th Ward now has 10 brand new playgrounds to enjoy!
I hope you and your family can attend Sunday’s celebration!
