Chicago Public Schools Network 2 Chief Phil Salemi announced last week that Augustine Emuwa, a popular Sullivan High School assistant principal, will assume the helm as Gale School’s new principal. This is good news for Gale’s students and parents. Though Gale’s school ratings have increased somewhat from Level 3 to Level 2, the school continues to struggle academically.
Mr. Emuwa received a strong recommendation for his new position from his former boss, Chad Adams, the Sullivan High School principal who has overseen dramatic improvements at his school. Principal Adams says Assistant Principal Emuwa is a valued partner and a strong, dynamic leader, who played an integral part in Sullivan’s reforms. Principal Adams is confident that Mr. Emuwa can bring about a similar result at Gale.
Mr. Emuwa not only earns praise from Principal Adams and his colleagues at Sullivan, he also receives kudos from Sullivan’s students, including this post from a Sullivan student: “Mr. Emuwa is a man that will forever be a father figure to me. I owe him so many things in life that i dont know how i will ever repay him. He is always there for me no matter what the situation is.”
Mr. Emuwa starts immediately as Gale’s new principal. Network 2 Chief Salemi stated that Gale’s former principal, Cassandra Washington, will be reassigned to another post.
Please join me in welcoming Principal Emuwa in his new role.
