If you’re a dog and or cat owner, you won’t want to miss this.
I’m teaming up with State Rep. Kelly Cassidy, State Senator Heather Steans and the City of Chicago Department of Animal Care and Control to offer an event to encourage pet owners to microchip and vaccinate their dogs and cats. Billed as aPET EXTRAVAGANZA, the event will take place this Sunday, September 20th, 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., at the Paw-ttawattomie Dog Park in Pottawattomie Park, 7340 N. Rogers (the dog park is nestled in the northeast corner of Pottawattomie Park, next to the Metra tracks and behind the townhomes on the 7400 block of North Wolcott).
We’re handing out free goody bags and giveaways to everyone who attends.
Free microchips and microchip registration will be provided to the first 100 pets who attend the event, courtesy of the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. After the first 100 pets, the charge for microchipping will be $15 per pet.
The Pet Extravaganza will also offer DA2PPL and FVRP vaccinations for $7 and rabies vaccinations for $15.
Finally, if you are a dog owner, City law requires you to register your pet with the City of Chicago. The Pet Extravaganza will give you the opportunity to register your dog onsite. The registration fee for altered dogs (neutered or spayed) is $5. The registration fee for unaltered dogs (unneutered or unspayed) is $50.
All fees must be paid in CASH ONLY. No checks or credit cards will be accepted. All dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier. All cats must be in a carrier.
I look forward to seeing you and your pet on Sunday!
