This is just to remind you that we have two big events coming up this Saturday–my annual paper shredding service and the 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting Election. Both are taking place at the Chicago Math and Science Academy, 7212 N. Clark (next to the firehouse and across the street from Touhy Park).
Don’t worry. We’re keeping the ballots far away from the paper shredder!
The shredding truck is one of my most popular initiatives and a great opportunity to get rid of any old or unwanted papers. Because the documents are shredded, you won’t have to worry about anyone being able to read your private information.
Just bring your old documents to the truck, where they will be shredded on the spot in front of you and then taken away to be recycled.
After you drop off your old papers, come into the school to vote.
The Participatory Budgeting Election, where you can vote on how to spend the ward’s discretionary infrastructure budget, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. inside the school. Exhibits detailing each of the project proposals will be on display.
If you can’t make it to the school this Saturday, you can vote early either online or at one of our early voting sites.
To vote online, simply send your name and address to email@example.com with the phrase “online voting” in the subject heading. We will send you the URL to the early voting website and a special access code to enter at that site. Then proceed to vote, following the instructions provided. Online voting ends at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, May 5th.
To vote early in person, visit my Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis) anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. today through Friday. After you vote, enter a raffle to win a $50 gift certificate to one of our fine local restaurants. You are not required to vote to enter the raffle.
Or stop by one of our early voting mobile locations. Volunteers and I will be at the following locations:
Today (Wednesday, May 3)
3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Jarvis “L” Station
Tomorrow (Thursday, May 4)
3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Loyola “L” Station
Happy shredding and happy voting!
