Due to CTA crews performing track work to reduce slow zones on the Purple Line Express, northbound Red Line trains to Howard will run express from the Sheridan Road Red Line station to Howard, bypassing Rogers Park stations at Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations. This work is taking place from now until this Monday morning (November 9th) at 4:00 a.m.
I apologize for the short notice, but I just found out late yesterday that the station bypass, which was planned originally this weekend for stations from Sheridan to Loyola, had been extended north to Howard. Northbound trains will bypass the Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations.
Southbound trains will continue to serve all stations throughout the weekend. If you wish to travel north from these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Sheridan and then transfer to a Howard-bound train.
Howard-bound customers who want to exit at the affected stations will need to travel to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
The work will not affect on-street parking in the area. However, construction noise, including the sounding of horns, will take place periodically throughout the weekend in the work area.
