In the midst of this severe recession, it’s more important than ever to support our long-time local businesses and make our new businesses feel welcome. In that spirit, I’d like to welcome to the 49th Ward community, a chic new cafe and bar with an improbable name–Chuckie’s.
Located at 1412 W. Morse (just west of Glenwood), Chuckie’s is not a kid’s pizza place or a horror flick. Instead, it’s a stylish venue with tinted floor-to-ceiling windows, three ornate chandeliers (that rival Liberace’s) and a dark, “stark” modern bar (a la French designer Philippe Starck), with bronze tiles and contemporary seating. Chuckie’s offers Daiquiri and Margarita machines and beers on tap, from $3 domestics to Belgian imports to Delirium Tremens in bottles. Relax in style in front of the large windows and watch the passersby.
Soon coffee machines will be brewing Metropolis coffee in the mornings and pastries, sandwiches and pizza slices will be offered all day. There’s more to come, including occasional live music and off-street parking on the weekends.
Join owner Alex Samardzija and his family for the official Grand Opening of Chuckie’s this Saturday, October 23rd, from 7:00 p.m. to close. They’ll be offering $2 domestic beers and $3 draft Guinness.
So stop in and welcome the family to the neighborhood!
