Moore Announces New Additions to Campaign Team
Armour and Sullivan join re-election effort
Alderman Joe Moore today named Alex Armour and Anne Sullivan, two longtime political activists, to his re-election campaign.
Armour, who recently served as U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s Political Director, will join Moore’s re-election effort as Campaign Manager. A Highland Park native and Beloit College graduate, Armour just completed a stint as Get Out the Vote Coordinator for Tammy Duckworth’s 6th Congressional District Campaign and is the incoming President of Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century.
Moore tapped lakefront protection activist Sullivan to be his Coordinator of Special Projects. Sullivan recently directed the “Save Our Lakefront” campaign, which placed on the November 49th Ward ballot an advisory referendum opposing major lakefront development, including Lake Shore Drive extension, marinas, harbors, housing, major landfill, and commercial development. The referendum garnered support from nearly 75% of the voters.
Sullivan’s work history also includes stints as Housing Director at the Edgewater Community Council and Program Director for the Healthy Schools Campaign.
“I’m proud of the winning team I’ve assembled,” said Moore . “Alex Armour brings a wealth of political experience to the table, having worked for one of the pre-eminent progressive members of Congress. Anne Sullivan’s passion for protecting our lakefront and record of advocacy for tenants and school children fits well with my values and beliefs,” he added.
Armour and Sullivan will join Wayne Frazier on Moore’s political staff. Frazier directed Moore’s nominating petition drive, and will serve as his Field Director.
Moore will officially announce his re-election bid on Sunday, Dec. 10th.
