As a result of track work on the Loyola ‘L” station renovation, traffic on Sheridan Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Friday. The southbound lanes will reopen on Monday. Northbound traffic, however, will continue to be reduced to one lane until the end of October.
The CTA has not yet been able to give me the precise times the lanes will be closed on Friday or reopened on Monday, so assume traffic will be in one lane in each direction from the beginning of the day on Friday until the end of the day on Monday. Please consider alternate routes for traveling, such as Ashland, Clark or Ridge.
Train service also will be affected this weekend. Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, and continuing to 4 a.m. Monday, northbound (Howard-bound) trains will not stop at any station north of Berwyn, including Loyola, Morse and Jarvis. To get to Howard Street and the Purple Line from these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Berwyn and transfer to a Howard-bound train. For service to these stations from points south, take a Howard-bound train to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
Train service will also take longer, as the trains will be moving slowly through the work zones. Please allow for extra time to travel on the “L” this weekend.
As always, if major changes in the work plan or schedule occur, I will let you know immediately through my electronic newsletter and postings on my Facebook page.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office email@example.com or contact the CTA directly through Jeff Wilson, the CTA’s Government and Community Relations Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
