Start your summer off right with a wonderful family-oriented event–the third Annual Pottawattomie Park Picnic in the Park!
Sponsored by the Pottawattomie Park Advisory Council, the Picnic in the Park takes place Tuesday, June 14, beginning at 5 p.m. at Pottawattomie Park, 7340 N. Rogers (just west of the Metra tracks).
The picnic will be chock full with all sorts of activities for the kids, such as face-painting, a coloring contest, hula-hoops, sidewalk chalk, and a multi-level bouncy castle with a slide!
Of course food is an essential component of any picnic. Food trucks will be on hand to offer up some delicious offerings.
5411 Empanadas will provide gourmet authentic Argentinean delights, including Malbec beef, caramelized onion, and spinach and cheese. Jaime’s Tacos will offer Mexican fiesta tacos, plus the traditional picnic favorites — hot dogs and hamburgers.
The food is not complimentary, but it is affordable.
At dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.), we’ll settle down for a Movie in the Park. It’s a classic:
In this fun movie, Mikey (Sean Astin) and his friends set out in search of buried pirate treasure in their small Northwest town and find themselves on an underground adventure and on a collision course with the town’s resident criminal family.
All in all, it promises to be a wonderful evening in the park for kids of all ages.
