I invite you to a special “Rogers Park Positive Loitering” event TONIGHT (Wednesday, July 16), 7:00 p.m.at the northwest corner of Devon and Glenwood (1400 W. Devon). 48th Ward Alderman Harry Ostermanand I will attend.
The event is organized by Rogers Park Positive Loitering, a group of area residents, led by Rogers Park resident John Warner, who gather together several evenings each month to stroll through the neighborhood or simply “loiter” on certain street corners. Their sole purpose is to deter crime by their positive presence on the street.
The group is changing the location of their previously scheduled walk in light of Saturday’s tragic shooting. We plan to walk on both sides of Devon from Sheridan to Clark. We will start the walk with a moment of prayer and quiet reflection in honor of the victim, William Lewis, and his family, as well as all the victims of gun violence in our community.
Please join us as we gather as one community to reaffirm our commitment to our neighborhood and one another.
