Put on your grubby clothes, grab a broom, and head over to the 49th Ward Service Office (7356 N. Greenview) on Saturday, October 13th at 9:00 a.m. for the annual 49th Ward Fall Clean-Up.
Twice a year–once in the spring and again in the fall–I sponsor a Clean-Up Day to spruce up our neighborhood. The Clean-Ups are wonderful community-building events, where neighbors get to know one another and share in the camaraderie of making the neighborhood a little bit nicer place in which to live.
We start out the day giving away free coffee and donuts, while handing out brooms, rakes, shovels, paint and other tools to neighborhood volunteers. We then fan out across the neighborhood picking up litter, clearing out dead brush and painting over graffiti.
At 12 Noon we meet again at the Ward Service Office for a mini “Taste of Rogers Park,” and enjoy food provided by a host of neighborhood restaurants and bakeries.
Come alone, or come with a group. There’s plenty to do, and it’s always a fun time!
To reserve equipment, register at http://www.ward49@cityofchicago/ or call my Ward Service Office at 773-338-5796.
Also please share with us any areas of the ward that you feel need extra attention.
My staff and I look forward to seeing you on October 13th!
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
