Fallapalooza is an all-day family-friendly festival featuring live music, local vendors, and candle making and pumpkin painting for children and children-at-heart. The Sofo Tap will be serving beer and sangria.
Local artist Lady Jane, of Whimsical Wax Wonders, will have a craft booth set up for kids who want to learn how to make candles, and a pumpkin-painting area will be set up for kids and adults who want a personalized Halloween decoration to bring home. The street will be filled with local businesses and artists who will be promoting and selling their wares.
All fest attendees will be asked to make a $5 voluntary donation to the Howard Area Community Center’s (HACC) Youth Services Programs, which reach out to at-risk youth and gets them involved in positive, asset-building activities and programs. Sofo Tap has kindly offered to donate $1 to HACC’s youth program for each drink sold.
I kick off the fest Friday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a special Follow Me on Friday at Audio Archaeology, 1324 W. Devon, and Thai Spice, 1320 W. Devon. Check outAudio Archaeology’s vast array of vintage vinyl and Hi Fi and stereo equipment–from turntables and component systems, to vintage 1950’s and ’60’s consoles, to a full line of colorful new analog and digital machines from Crosley.
Then go next door and enjoy some delicious Far East appetizers from Thai Spice, one of Chicago’s premier Thai restaurants. And wash down those treats with a beer, wine or soft drink provided compliments of me.
I hope you will join me this weekend as Devon Avenue comes alive!
