Please join me as I announce my intention to seek another term as Alderman of the 49th Ward. The announcement will take place Monday, November 17th, 6:30 p.m. (food and refreshments), 7:15 p.m. (announcement) at the Heartland Cafe, 7001 N. Glenwood (at Lunt).
I am sending this message to everyone who lives in the 49th Ward and beyond–those who have supported me from the very beginning, those who have opposed me in the past and those who are still undecided about me or are new to the neighborhood. All are invited.
I’ve worked hard to heal the divisions of the past and demonstrate that we are a stronger community when we work together. The continued revitalization of Morse Avenue, the stunning success of the Glenwood Sunday Farmers’ Market, the historic Participatory Budgeting processand the opening of the Jewel/Osco Grocery Store at Gateway Center are just a few of the many examples of what we can accomplish when we set aside past differences and unite as a community.
My Ward Service Office staff and my Ward Superintendent, Dan Murphy, continue to provide you with efficient, friendly and professional service. I pride myself on my accessibility. I personally write each and every electronic newsletter you receive from my office and I am a regular participant on the local social media sites where I engage openly with friend and foe alike.
I don’t hide behind a keyboard, however. You will find me frequently out and about in the neighborhood at my“Satellite Service Offices,” my Follow Me on Friday events or simply at a local grocery or restaurant. I believe there is no better way to represent my community than getting out from behind my desk and talking to real people face-to-face about the problems and challenges they face.
I’m at the top of my game and more energized and focused than ever before. I hope you will join me as we celebrate our successes of the last four years, and recommit ourselves to building an even better future.
I look forward to seeing you at the Heartland Cafe Monday night.
