Join me for a tour of Rogers Park on my 6th Annual 49TH WARD COMMUNITY BICYCLE RIDE. The event kicks off Sunday, September 14th, 7:30 a.m., at the 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis).
Traffic is light and the morning air is fresh–the perfect time for a bike ride. We’ll start the day by enjoying a light breakfast snack compliments and then embark on an hour-long bicycle tour of the 49th Ward.
Each year we explore another part of Rogers Park and the 49th Ward. This year, we’ll tour the large number of park improvements our neighborhood has received courtesy of the 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting process and the Chicago Plays Playground Replacement Program. For everyone’s safety, we ask that all bike riders be at least 16 years of age.
The Chicago Bike Ambassadors will provide a safety escort and will be on hand to answer questions about the rules of the road for cyclists. We’ll conclude our ride at the Glenwood Sunday Market where you’ll be able to pick up fresh local produce.
Whether you’re a hardcore bicycling enthusiast, or simply want to spend a nice summer morning riding your bike through the neighborhood, this is the place to be.
Through a donation secured by the Healthy Rogers Park Community Network, we will be giving away a limited number of bike helmets, locks and tire pumps. Get to my office by 7:30 a.m. to put your name in for a drawing of this bike equipment meant to encourage active lifestyle for residents Rogers Park. In order to qualify for the drawing you must have a bicycle with you for the ride.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday morning the 14th!
