Alderman Debra Silverstein (50th Ward) and I are hosting the second of two community meetings to obtain feedback on various design alternatives to improve Howard Street from Winchester to Sacramento.
As I stated in an email I sent last month, the Chicago Department of Transportation and the Evanston Public Works Agency have embarked on a joint effort to improve Howard Street, which sits on the border of the two cities. The improvements are focused on enhancing the safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as the physical appearance of the street.
Evanston Alderman Ann Rainey hosted a meeting in Evanston earlier this month and Alderman Silverstein and I are hosting an identical meeting at St. Margaret Mary’s Monday night.
The meeting will include a brief presentation on the need for improvements, various design alternatives under consideration, and a possible project timeline. Photographs displaying existing conditions, aerial maps and proposed improvement exhibits will be displayed for viewing during the entire meeting.
Representatives from the City of Chicago, the City of Evanston, and the consultants will be on hand to discuss the proposed project and answer any questions you may have. Comment forms will also be available at the meeting.
You may also submit your comments and suggestions by replying to this email. I will forward your comments to the appropriate officials in Chicago and Evanston.
