I’m pleased to report that the Howard Street entrance to the new Howard El Station will re-open TOMORROW (Friday, March 20th) in time for the morning rush hour.
The newly refurbished entrance was designed to appear much like it did over 100 years ago when the el station first opened. Beautiful wood doors and antique period lighting will greet commuters as they approach the station. The station entrance is bright and airy, and incredibly well lit in the evening. Security cameras are discretely, but visibly, placed throughout the station entrance.
Repairs to the viaduct on Howard Street will continue. The CTA estimates that work on the entire project will be completed by this summer.
Check out the new station entrance Friday morning. My staff and I will be there beginning at 6:30 a.m. with our “Satellite Service Office,” greeting commuters with free coffee and donuts and taking city service requests.
We’ll see you there!
