We’ve got two back-to-back events where you can demonstrate your support for one of our neighborhood schools–Sullivan High School.
Community meeting on Sullivan High School’s campaign to win $10 million
Join Sullivan High School Principal Chad Adams and me as we update the community on Sullivan’s campaign to win a $10 million grant to redesign the school. The meeting will take place TONIGHT (Tuesday, May 17th), 7:00 p.m., at Sullivan High School, 6631 N. Bosworth, in Room 131.
As I wrote last week, Principal Adams will report to the community tonight on the status of Sullivan’s exciting and ground-breaking proposal for a new four-year curriculum for its students. This is the latest step in a competition sponsored by XQ: The Super School Project, for a $10 million grant to “reimagine” high schools. Sullivan was selected to represent Chicago in this national competition. Learn more about this competition and Sullivan’s proposal and how community residents can help Sullivan achieve its goal.
“Shoulder Pads for Sullivan” event to raise money for Sullivan High School’s football team
I’m teaming up with the Rogers Park Builders Group and the Rogers Park Business Alliance to sponsor a “Shoulder Pads for Sullivan” event to raise $8,500 to replace Sullivan High School’s deteriorated shoulder pads and purchase other needed equipment. The event will take place TOMORROW (Wednesday, May 18th), from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Pub 626, 1406 W. Morse.
This event is serving as a catalyst for the formation of a “Friends of Sullivan Committee,” that hopes to sponsor future charitable campaigns for programs in the arts, science, theater, and music departments, along with providing additional Sullivan necessities as needed.
The cost is $15 if you pay today or $20 on the day of the event or at the door ($5 for CPS employees, students or parents of CPS students).

I hope to see you tomorrow, but even if you can’t attend, I encourage you to support Sullivan by contributing to its GoFundMe campaign.
