You may have received my e-mail yesterday regarding street closures this weekend at Lunt, Morse and Glenwood and rail service changes. As Gilda Radner used to say on Saturday Night Live, “Never mind.”
I’m pleased to report the CTA and its contractors informed me late yesterday afternoon that the platform installation at Morse has been completed and they will not need to close the streets after all. Furthermore, the Jarvis and Loyola “L” stations will experience normal rail service in both directions this weekend, although rail passengers may experience delays in service due to work on “L” station platforms south of us.
I apologize for the miscommunication, but as late as yesterday morning the CTA had confirmed to me the street closures and rail service interruptions were proceeding as planned. Though the ongoing miscommunication with the CTA is frustrating, at least I have good news to report that the work is proceeding ahead of schedule.
The CTA informs me we will enjoy a two week respite and that station-related street closures in our neighborhood will not occur again until the weekend of August 3-5. I will inform you of those details as they become available
Street closures and rail service changes, however, will occur this weekend in the 48th Ward at the Thorndale, Berwyn and Argyle stations. For information on those closures and rail service changes visit CTA Station Watch at http://ctastationwatch.com/main-line/317.
In the meantime, enjoy a relaxing, hassle-free weekend in the 49th Ward!
