Celebrate the July 4th holiday at the Glenwood Sunday Market. Yes, it’s true; the Market will be open for business this Sunday with most of your favorite vendors and a few new ones, besides. Everything from vegetables to granola to lamb chops to brats to gourmet ice cream and then some will be available for purchase.
Bring your kids. The first Sunday of every month is Children’s Day! The Market will have face painting, a kids parade at 1 p.m., and lots of family friendly entertainment. You can even take a turn cranking the ice cream maker.
The Glenwood Sunday Market relies on private support for the vast majority of its funding. Here are two ways you can help keep the Market thriving.
Visit the American Farmland Trust website and vote for the Glenwood Sunday Market as your favorite farmers’ market! The top four winning farmers’ markets will receive a $3,000 grant. Voting ends August 31st. Let’s win one for the home team!
Mark your calendars for the Market for All Fest, Sunday, July 11th, 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at theMorseland, 1218 W. Morse. Enjoy a great concert and silent auction to support our Market for All program. All proceeds from the event will allow the Market to double the purchasing power of its Link and SNAP customers.
Finally, I will be at my “Satellite Service Office” tent at the Market for most of the morning. Stop by and say “hello,” and use the opportunity to request a needed city service. Also, visit my 49th Ward Green Corps tent where you can obtain free information on all the environmental and sustainability initiatives in the 49th Ward and City of Chicago.
I look forward to seeing you at the Glenwood Sunday Market . . . your green stop on the Red Line!
