Join me this weekend for one of the most popular neighborhood events of the summer–The Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival. It’s a FREE, weekend-long arts festival that features over one hundred artists, open studios, and live entertainment on three outdoor stages. Experience every variety of art, music, theater, food and drink on the cobblestone streets of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District at Morse and Glenwood.
The ninth annual festival takes place this weekend (Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd) from 12 Noon to 9:00 p.m. A kick-off party will be held Friday night.

Some of the best music performers in Chicago will be featured at the festival. For the Entertainment Schedule, CLICK HERE.
My staff and I will be at the festival taking city service requests at our 49th Ward Satellite Service Office near the food court.
And you will have an opportunity to vote for your favorite murals at the election for the 49th Ward Underpass Mural Project. Voting takes place at the No Exit Café, 6970 N. Glenwood (between Morse and Lunt) Saturday, 12 Noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 12 Noon to 5 p.m. Results of the voting will be announced from the main stage Sunday evening, no later than the close of the festival.
Please note that the Glenwood Sunday Market will operate at a different location this Sunday. Find the Market on Glenwood between Lunt and Greenleaf this week only.
Next week, the Glenwood Sunday Market will operate at its new and permanent location on Glenwood, (just north of Morse) between Morse and Lunt.
Finally, kick off the weekend at tonight’s “Follow Me on Friday” location at the Ethiopian Diamond II, 7537 N. Clark (just south of Howard).
“Follow Me on Friday” is one of my efforts to encourage you to sample some of the 49th Ward’s finest restaurants and pubs. Each week on my Facebook page, I will post the name and location of a local restaurant or pub where I’ll be hanging out after work on Friday. The establishment will offer specials for all my Facebook followers and their friends. It’s a great opportunity for you to check out a local business you may not have been to before.
Join me on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/joemoore49, or bring this e-mail, and you’ll get your choice of a complimentary draft beer, glass of wine or soft drink. Ethiopian Diamond II will also provide free appetizers.
And then cap the night at the Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival’s Friday kick-off!
I hope to see you this weekend!
