Please join me for an evening of fun and community spirit (and win a Rogers Park Mural Board) as we support the 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting Initiative with a “Fun Raiser” this Friday, April 8th, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse.
Sponsored by the 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting Leadership Committee, proceeds from this event will be used to increase community participation in this year’s Participatory Budgeting Election where 49th Ward residents will vote on how to spend my $1 million 2011 ward infrastructure budget. Over 1,600 residents voted in last year’s election and we want to get even more people involved this year from every sector of our diverse community. This year’s election will be held on Saturday, May 7th.
A complimetary drink and appetizers will be provided courtesy of the Act One Cafe. We’re asking for a minimum donation of $10 to attend the Fun Raiser (although donations in greater amounts will be gratefully accepted).
At the event you will have a chance win a “Rogers Park Mural Board.” These unique poster boards were used to display the proposed underpass murals that 49th Ward residents voted for at last summer’s Participatory Budgeting Underpass Mural Election. The beautiful boards include the original mural design of each winning artist, as well as a statement from the artist describing their inspiration behind the design. Some of the murals already grace many of the underpass walls on the Metra line and the rest will go up on Metra and CTA underpass walls this summer.

Please feel free to post it in your building, the businesses you frequent, your place of worship, etc.
I hope to see you this Friday, 5-7 p.m., at the Mayne Stage!
