Grab a blanket and picnic dinner and join me for my annual MOVIE IN THE PARK this Saturday, August 4th, at dusk (approximately 8:00 p.m.) at Touhy Park, 7358 N. Paulina (at Jarvis). Joining me as sponsors for this year’s Movie in the Park are the Touhy Park Advisory Council, State Senator Heather Steans, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, State Representative Kelly Cassidy and the Kiwanis Club of Rogers Park.
This year’s movie is A Dolphin Tale, a family drama film directed by Charles Martin Smith from a screenplay by Karen Janszen and Noam Dromi and a book of the same name. It stars Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman.
The book and film are inspired by the true story of Winter, a bottlenose dolphin who loses her tail in a crab trap, and Sawyer, an 11-year old boy who befriends her. Without her tail, Winter may not survive. But with Sawyer’s devotion, a marine biologist’s (Harry Connick, Jr.) expertise and the brilliance of a prosthetist (Morgan Freeman) charged with creating a new tail, Winter may receive a second chance at life.
