Alderman Joe Moore’s re-election bid received a major boost last week with the endorsement of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
Moore, a long-time champion of community policing, received the endorsement because of his “constant assistance” to the FOP, and the challenges he brings to the City Council, according to a statement issued by the organization.
“I am proud to have received the support of the premier advocate for law enforcement officers,” said Moore “The endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police is a recognition of the close working relationship I enjoy with the men and women of the Chicago Police Department,” Moore added. “They literally put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect the residents of my ward.”
The Fraternal Order of Police endorsement is the latest in a series of endorsements garnered by Moore in recent weeks.
Moore also has picked up the support of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the Chicago Federation of Labor, Citizen Action of Illinois, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 880.
