Rogers Park is home a lot of great pizza restaurants, but usually you have to wait 30 minutes, 45 minutes, sometimes an hour for the pizza you ordered to be sent to your table. If you are hungry for a pizza and you want it right now, the pizza joint I’m visiting this Friday is the place for you.
Follow Me on Friday to Blaze Pizza–Loyola, 6550 N. Sheridan (immediately north of the Loyola Red Line station). Join me this Friday, January 27th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and enjoy, compliments of Blaze, your own made-to-order pizza and a beer, wine or soft drink.
Blaze Pizza is ideal for those pizza lovers into instant gratification by practically eliminating the wait time for pizza. It’s name is derived from how quickly a create-your-own pizza can be “Fast Fire’d” in a high-temperature open-flame oven–an average cook time is three minutes.
Think Chipotle and you’ll have a basic idea of how Blaze operates. You begin by choosing which of the ingredients you’d like on your pizza pie. As you work your way down the assembly line, staff will assist you at each step, resulting in a unique custom pizza each time. When you arrive at the end of the line, your custom-built pizza is ready to be cooked.
Your pizza is then placed into Blaze’s seven-foot, gas-fired, open-flame oven and presto, you have your pizza in three minutes!
Blaze is one of the most rapidly growing companies of its kind in the nation by maintaining a “keep it simple” philosophy that shuns rapid-fire new product introductions and limited time offers, and instead focuses on carefully sourcing high-quality ingredients and cooking its fast-fire’d pizzas to order.
When you enter the store on Sheridan, you’ll find a unique interior design that gives it a neighborhood feel. Absent are the promotional posters and signage all too common in fast food establishment. The Blaze on Sheridan was constructed with both recycled and sustainable materials. It uses eco-friendly packaging and features energy-efficient lighting.
Though it’s a national restaurant, each Blaze Pizza is locally-owned by a franchisee. Stop by Blaze on Friday night and meet owner Adam Curtis and his general manager, Persio Nunez. They’ll make you feel right at home!
“Follow Me on Friday” is one of my efforts to encourage my constituents to sample some of the 49th Ward’s finest restaurants, pubs and businesses. About once or twice a month on my Facebook page, I post the name and location of a local restaurant, pub or business where I’ll be hanging out after work on Friday. The establishment offers specials for all my Facebook followers and their friends. It’s a great opportunity for you to check out one of the fine local 49th Ward businesses you may not have visited before.
