The first annual Fallapalooza Musical Festival is on Devon Avenue this Saturday and I’m kicking it off with aFollow Me on Friday to two unique Devon Avenue businesses–one that just recently opened and one that has been in the neighborhood for a generation.
Follow Me to Audio Archaeology, 1324 W. Devon, and Thai Spice, 1320 W. Devon, this Friday, October 10th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Both establishments are located just east of Wayne Avenue, where the music festival will be taking place.
John Arnsdoff, owner of Audio Archaeology, is organizing this Saturday’s music festival and it makes perfect sense for him to do so. His business is chock full of HiFi and stereo equipment–from Audiophile turntables and component systems, vintage 1950’s and ’60’s consoles, to a full line of colorful new analog and digital machines from Crosley.
Audio Archaeology is a testament to the resurgence of vinyl records and is jammed pack with records of all musical genres. Each month, Audio Archaeology features the work of a local Chicago-area artist on their walls. Everything in the space will help the customer, “live the vinyl lifestyle.”
After purchasing some old records to add to your collection, join us next door for a taste of the Far East at Thai Spice. Owner Tony Hubich will serve up some of his house specialties, including the best chicken satay you’ll ever have. Tony cooks his own food and has been delighting the taste buds of Rogers Park and Edgewater diners for over 20 years. He spices the food to your taste–from mild to hot for those who like an adventure.
Tony is also extremely friendly and, if he’s not too busy, he’ll sit down with you and share a glass of wine as he lets you in on some of his culinary secrets. If you like Thai food, Thai Spice is definitely the place to dine.
To compliment your Far East dining experience, I’ll serve up Thai beer and offer a choice of wine and soft drinks.
“Follow Me on Friday” is one of my efforts to encourage my constituents to sample some of the 49th Ward’s finest restaurants, pubs and businesses. Each week on my Facebook page, I post the name and location of a local restaurant, pub or business where I’ll be hanging out after work on Friday. The establishment offers specials for all my Facebook followers and their friends. It’s a great opportunity for you to check out one of the fine local 49th Ward businesses you may not have visited before.
