Do you enjoy working with youth? Are you looking for a way to support a child’s quest for learning and academic achievement while experiencing the richness of a shared journey? If you answered “yes,” the Community Tutoring program is looking for you.
Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with a school- aged student (1st-12th grade) at least once a week throughout the school year. We ask that tutors make a commitment to work with the same child for the whole school year. The Community Tutoring staff supports your work each week by creating a lesson plan for you to follow based on the student’s abilities and the curriculum from his/her classroom. Tutors are given an initial training and then each week staff members are available to assist or guide sessions as needed. Tutoring sessions occur Monday through Thursday in the afternoons (4-5:15) and evenings (6:30-8:00). Tutors can select afternoons or evenings depending on which works best with their schedules.
