Back by popular demand, the mobile shredding truck sponsored by Midway Document Destruction will be providing free paper shredding and recycling to residents of the 49th Ward and beyond.
Please plan to arrive early! We always request the largest truck possible and it always fills up. The event will continue for as long as there is space in the truck.
Bring any documents you no longer need or want but that might contain personal or private information. Examples include:
- Bank statements
- Outdated medical records
- Pay stubs
- Old bills and receipts
- Credit card offers
- Tax returns older than seven years
Please note, we cannot dispose of any electronic waste.

Where: Touhy Park, 7348 N. Paulina
Synopsis: Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Gray) falls in love with the camp’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze).
Watch Baby soar into the arms of Johnny during this film favorite at Touhy Park. Admission is free; bring a lawn chair and a blanket. Also, enjoy free popcorn.

Want to feel like a kid again, playing with a giant marshmallow? In our Marshmallow Decorating Class, you’ll be able to let your imagination run wild! You’ll learn all about how we make marshmallows, and our story of how we came to run a cafe dedicated entirely to marshmallows! Then you’ll be given a 6″x6″ slab of our gourmet Vanilla Marshmallows & the opportunity to go crazy with decorating! We’ll have cookie cutters, sprinkles galore, chocolate, and more! Everything you need to create the marshmallows of your dreams. Wrap it all up at the end of the night with a cute to-go container! Snack on them later or share with friends (if you’re feeling sweet!)
Tickets are $32.00
- Participants should be 13 years or older.
- Closed toe shoes are required to enter the kitchen. Long hair will have to be pulled back. Aprons will be provided.
- Classes must be cancelled or rescheduled up to 72 hours in advance to receive a refund – however, a $10 processing fee will apply per person. If a class is cancelled less than 72 hours in advance, a refund unfortunately will not be available. In the event that you cannot attend within 72 hours you may transfer your spot to a friend with written consent.
- If a class does not have enough participants, XO Marshmallow may cancel the class 48 hours in advance. If cancelled, you will be notified and issued a full refund.

If your city sticker expires in June or July, swing by my Ward Service Office to get a new one.
The price of a City Vehicle Sticker depends on the size and type of vehicle you own. To find out this year’s price for your vehicle, visit the City Clerk’s City Vehicle Stickers and Parking page and click on “Vehicle City Stickers.”
Senior citizens age 65 and older as of the start date of their new city sticker are eligible to purchase one discounted City Sticker at $31 per year. This discounted rate applies only to the purchase of a city sticker for a passenger or large passenger vehicle.

R Public House is hosting a family, friendly neighborhood block party in celebration of Pride. R Public House has drinks for the parents and fun events for the kids, including a kids tent and balloon animal entertainer.
When: Sunday, June 24th (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.)
Where: West side of Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Lunt
Pub 626 and The Glenwood are sponsoring this alternative Pride party in Rogers Park. It features live music and DJs, with food and drink available. It’s easy to get to, right at the Morse Avenue stop on the CTA Red Line.
