The area surrounding the Morse Red Line stop, also known as the Glenwood Arts District, becomes the featured transit stop this weekend for the Rogers Park Arts Alliance’s third annual Art Round Trip. Each weekend in October, Art Round Trip features a different Red Line station in Rogers Park and highlights the visual arts, theater, dance and music that can be enjoyed within steps of that station.
This weekend’s events kick off TODAY (Friday, October 23rd), from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with three simultaneous receptions featuring the work of student artists from our neighborhood schools.
The Lifeline Theater, 6912 N. Glenwood, will show artwork from students who attend Kilmer School and Sullivan High School. As an added treat, Sullivan’s rock band, The Hectics, will perform in the theater at 4:15 p.m.
Artwork from students at New Field School will be on display at the Mayne Stage Theater, 1328 W. Morse. New Field’s music teacher, Daniel Dusel, and singer-songwriter-teacher, Joe Dickinson, will regale you with children’s songs in Mayne Stage’s lobby.
After you attend this afternoon’s receptions, take advantage of complimentary dance classes at the Glenwood Dance Studio, 7017 N. Glenwood Ave. The 45-minute classes will be offered today (Friday, October 23rd) at 6:00, 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. Check the studio’s events page for details on classes.
The Rogers Park Art Gallery, 6902 N. Glenwood will celebrate an opening today (Friday, October 23rd) with a reception from 6:00 9:00 p.m. Thirteen artists will be showing their work.
Finally, join us Sunday for complimentary food and wine and meet all the artists who are participating in this year’s Art Round Trip. The reception takes place Sunday, October 25th, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Mayne Stage’s Mezz Gallery. Guitarist Ron Lowy will perform.

Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood, this weekend will show both “Miss Buncle’s Book” in its Main Stage series and “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” in its Kids series.
The musical drama “Blood Brothers” will fill the stage atTheo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, 6970 N. Glenwood.
See who will reign supreme for All Hallows’ Eve at “KTF Dance Crash: Dance of the Dead” tonight (Friday, October 24th) 9:30 p.m., at the Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse. Also at the Mayne Stage this Sunday at 8:00 p.m., Cult Camp Productions presents “Zanna Don’t”: A Musical Fairytale.”
