Today is the first day you can vote in our Participatory Budgeting process. Election Day is Saturday, May 7th, but if you’re going to be out of town or otherwise occupied that day, you can VOTE EARLY starting today at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis) during regular office hours, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Wednesday open to 7 p.m.).
To obtain a SAMPLE BALLOT, click on the attachment below:
If you need to vote early or would like to do some research ahead of time, all the project proposals are listed on my participatory budgeting blog:
The projects listed were suggested, vetted, and ultimately selected to be placed on the ballot by 49th Ward residents.
To get a complete understanding of the proposed projects, however, and also to witness first-hand the truly incredible work you and your neighbors have put into this exciting new process, I strongly encourage you to review the detailed displays of the project proposals on Election Day, Saturday, May 7th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Chicago Math and Science Academy, 7212 N. Clark St. All the projects will have displays that will be posted throughout the room, and community representatives will be available to take questions and discuss their projects continuously throughout the day. We will also have a Power Point presentation of the projects running continuously, for those of you who prefer that mode of presentation.
Finally, help us get the word out about this amazing experiment in democracy. Please forward this e-mail to your friends and neighbors and invite your Facebook friends to Election Day:
We also have yard signs, window posters and fliers that urge people to come out to vote on May 7th. Get a sign for your yard or window, or help us distribute fliers to your friends and neighbors. Stop by my 49th Ward Service Office (7356 N. Greenview) during regular business hours to pick up the signs and fliers or reply to this e-mail with your address and phone number and we will deliver the signs and/or fliers to your home.
See you at the polls!
