I am writing to invite you to attend a community meeting to review a proposal by Loyola University to construct an apartment building development at 1217-39 W. Albion Avenue. The meeting will be heldWednesday, January 25th, 7:00 p.m., at Loyola University’s Centennial Forum in the Bremner Lounge, 1125 W. Loyola (at Sheridan).
The proposal calls for the construction of a 29-unit residential development. The university currently operates a surface parking lot on the site. The proposal also calls for the construction of a new surface parking lot, providing approximately 56 parking spaces, 29 of which would belong to the residential development. The remaining parking would be available for a fee to the community at large and requires a special use permit from the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals.
The current zoning on the lots is a combination of C1-3 and RT4. In order to use the portion of the lot that is designated C1-3 for ground floor residential use, the zoning must be changed from a commercial to a residential designation.
A rendering of the proposed development is attached below:
I urge you to attend the meeting to offer your opinion on the proposal. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to reply to this e-mail with your thoughts and suggestions.
