I am writing to invite you to attend a community meeting to provide an update on significant rehabilitation work that will take place this summer and fall on the Morse and Jarvis “L” stations. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 27th, 7:00 p.m., at the United Church of Rogers Park, 1535 W. Morse (at Ashland). Parking is available in the parking lot of the Mision Cristiana Elim Church at the southwest corner of Morse and Ashland.
The work on the Morse and Jarvis stations, which I first announced last month, will include viaduct repairs, platform repairs or replacement, station water proofing, lighting improvements and new station house finishes. The same rehabilitation work also is planned for the Granville, Thorndale, Berwyn, Argyle and Lawrence stations and will extend the life of the stations until a permanent capital improvement plan for the entire Red Line is fully designed and funded.
The CTA will provide at the community meeting detailed information regarding the rehabilitation schedule, the precise scope of the work and its impact on rail service.
The Loyola “L” station is slated for a separate $11 million renovation, which was announced last summer. A separate community meeting on the Loyola station project will be held later this spring.
