I invite you to participate in a public meeting regarding a proposal by McDonald’s to demolish its existing restaurant at 6740 N. Clark and build an entirely new restaurant. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, 7 p.m. at the Chicago Public Library, 6907 N Clark, in the south community room, 2nd Floor.
All drive-thru restaurants in Chicago require a special use permit from the City of Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals. While the Zoning Board of Appeals reserves final decision-making authority on special use permits, the opinion of the local Alderman carries considerable weight. Before I decide whether to support the project, I want to give you an opportunity to review plans for the new McDonald’s restaurant and weigh in with your advice and input.
The proposed building design is similar to the McDonald’s restaurants in the 6200 Block of North Broadway and the 5600 Block of North Clark Street. Renderings of the building will be available on my website and in my ward office on Monday morning for your review.
Amy Kurson, of Greenberg and Traurig, the attorney for McDonald’s, and other representatives of McDonald’s Corporation will present the plans.
I hope you will participate.
