Join me for my 2nd Annual 49TH WARD COMMUNITY BICYCLE RIDE, Sunday, August 15th, 7:30 a.m. at the 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis).
Enjoy a light breakfast snack compliments of Whole Foods. The first 50 arrivals will also receive reusable water bottles! I’ll lead an hour-long bicycle tour of the 49th Ward with a safety escort provided by Mayor Daley’s Bicycling Ambassadors.
We’ll conclude our ride at Bicycle Day at the Glenwood Sunday Market at Morse and Glenwood. Bicycle parking will be available, along with some great bike-related vendors and resources, including:
- Bike safety checks
- Helmet fittings
- Cycling merchandise
- Rider safety tips and more!
The Recyclery, 7628 N. Paulina, Rogers Park’s used bicycle collective, will be accepting donations of used bikes. And many thanks to Roberts Cycle, 7054 N. Clark, for providing the safety checks, helmet fittings and cycling merchandise.
Whether you’re a hardcore bicycling enthusiast, or simply want to spend a nice summer morning riding bikes with your kids, this is the place to be.
I am proud to have the 49th Ward Green Corps as one of the sponsors of Bicycle Day. Our goal of transforming the 49th Ward into the greenest community in the nation can only be accomplished by making our community more bicycle friendly.
Please download a copy of the Bicycle Day poster to share with your building residents, congregation, and co-workers. The pdf is provided below:
I look forward to seeing you Sunday morning the 15th!
P.S. We have room for more bike vendors and organizations. If interested contactBarbaraMoore@ward49.com
