I’m hosting two popular events at my office this Saturday, June 23rd—a City vehicle sticker sale and the ever-popular paper shredding service!
Below is information on both events:
City vehicle stickers on sale Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Chicago City Clerk’s office will sell City Vehicle Stickers this Saturday, June 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis). There is no additional service fee for this convenience.
Please note you can purchase a city sticker at this event only if your city sticker expires in June or July
The price of a City Vehicle Sticker depends on the size and type of vehicle you own. To find out this year’s price for your vehicle, visit the City Clerk’s City Vehicle Stickers and Parking page and click on “Vehicle City Stickers.”
Senior citizens age 65 and older as of the start date of their new city sticker are eligible to purchase one discounted City Sticker at $31 per year. This discounted rate applies only to the purchase of a city sticker for a passenger or large passenger vehicle.
If you live in a residential permit parking zone, you may add your zone to your City Sticker for an additional $25. Regardless of when your city sticker expires, you may purchase daily residential guest parking permits at this event.
Please bring your City Vehicle Sticker renewal form. If you do not have your renewal form, you must bring one of the following documents to verify your vehicle identification number (VIN):
- State vehicle registration card, or
- Vehicle title, or
- insurance card displaying your VIN.
If you are a senior citizen, make sure to bring your driver’s license for proof of birth date to receive the senior discount. If you are purchasing a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker on behalf of a senior citizen, please bring that person’s driver’s license.
The Clerk’s Office will only accept checks, money orders and credit cards. NO cash payments will be accepted.
Keep in mind that even if your vehicle is registered in the suburbs or out-of-state, you must purchase a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker if you keep your vehicle within the city limits of Chicago for a period of thirty days or longer.
Finally, please note that though the City Clerk’s office provides a 30-day grace period for late fees, the City of Chicago no longer provides a grace period for tickets. Failure to purchase and display a new City Vehicle Sticker by the expiration date of your old sticker could result in a $200 ticket.
Shred and recycle old papers and documents Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Back by popular demand, the mobile shredding truck sponsored by Midway Document Destruction will be providing free paper shredding and recycling to residents of the 49th Ward and beyond this Saturday, June 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis).
The shredding truck is one of my most popular initiatives and a great opportunity to get rid of any old or unwanted papers. Because the documents are shredded, you won’t have to worry about anyone being able to read your private information.
Just bring your old documents to the truck, where they will be shredded on the spot in front of you and then taken away to be recycled.
Please plan to arrive early! We always request the largest possible truck and it always fills up. The event will last until the truck is full.
Bring any documents you no longer need or want but might contain personal information. Examples include:
- Bank Statements
- Outdated medical records
- Pay stubs
- Old bills and receipts
- Credit card offers
- Tax returns older than seven years
Clean out your home office or attic and join us this Saturday for a day of paper recycling!
